How many takas will this beam give?Free
Enter the warp metres on the beam, the crimp and the taka cut — get the full takas and how short the last one is. Add ends and denier for the yarn on the beam.
How it works
The length written on a beam is usually the warp length. Warp goes over and under in the cloth (crimp), so you get a little less fabric:
Fabric metres = beam metres ÷ (1 + crimp%)Full takas = fabric metres ÷ taka cut (whole number only)Last taka = fabric metres − full takas × cut
Example: a 9,000 m beam, 0 crimp, 117 m cut → 76 full takas and a last one of 108 m. At 5% crimp the fabric is 8,571.43 m → 73 takas and 30.43 m left.
The yarn on the beam: ends × denier × beam metres ÷ 90,00,000 — 8,200 × 60 × 9,000 ÷ 90,00,000 = 492 kg. That's the formula on Loomiro's beam card.
In Loomiro, entering the taka cut in Bhidan (beam on loom) shows the expected takas and metres at once, and the dashboard warns you before a beam runs out. More tips in the beam to takas guide.
